Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a Marxist revolutionary, guerrilla leader, and media icon. He was a key leader of the rebel army of the Cuban Revolution from 1956 to 1959. After the successful coup in Cuba, the Argentine Guevara dedicated himself to the revolutionary struggle in Congo, Angola and Bolivia. In 1967 he was captured and executed in a skirmish with the Bolivian military.
His likeness became world famous during this time and a symbol of revolutionary resistance against the rulers. At the same time, he was controversial because of his brutality in the revolutionary struggle - where he did not shy away from torture and murder.
