John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States of America from 1961 to 1963. He was an extremely popular and charismatic politician who worked to promote civil rights in the United States. He became famous with his speech in West Berlin in 1963 in front of the Schöneberg town hall - "I am a Berliner" - as well as his role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he prevented a nuclear war through diplomatic skill.

At the same time, however, tar also continued the US engagement in Vietnam, leading the country into a devastating "proxy war". Kennedy was shot dead in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 while on a campaign trip.
